Indie Fantasy Book Reviews

Championing the underdogs

There are so many great indie fantasy books out there! I’ve always enjoyed reading fantasy stories, but I just felt like I get the same recommendations from every booktuber out there. So I hope to shine a light on the hidden gems in the indie fantasy space.

Indie Ranking Criteria

How do I score your book?

I always try to be as objective as possible, which is why I created my INDIE ranking scale. This allows me to objectively assess the main components that I feel make a fantasy story great.

Each category gets ranked from 1-10, and then I take the average of all the categories to get the final overall score. Anything above a 9/10 gets to be COVER FACING on my bookshelf. It’s my way of promoting the Best of the Best of the indie books I’ve read.

I – Immersion (Worldbuilding)

N – Names (Characters)

D – Da Magic (+ Creatures/Tech)

I – Infrastructure (Plot, Pacing, Prose)

E – Enjoyment
